PENCIL WHIPPED |
This is probably the strangest game that you will ever play. It is a first person game but you are in an entire world drawn with pencil. And if that is not weird enough for you, all the sounds on the game are made bt one man, even the bombs exploding! If you went, like I did, to a top games downloading site and noticed the slender 3meg download of this game I am sure that you will have downloaded it. You would think that the demo would be tiny, such a small download after all. But there are infact two full strange levels for you to battle your way through. Considering that this game is entirely mono-colour and runs in MS-DOS, you will be surpirised to know that thsi game does infact run in D3D. The texturing of all the walls, floors and ceilings are all quite smooth. The characters are..... unique and original as they are completely flat and as you can probably see, they are drawn with a pencil. Unlike most other DOS games you have a windowed menu screen which allows you to change all the game modes including a large variety of screen resolutions. Before I go any further at all I must remind you that despite the generous review so far this game is highly weird! The sound is also errrrrrrrrrr original, with all the sounds being made by the same guy; the exploding bombs, the sieing noises of all the other people and characters in the game, even the creeking sounds of all the doors opening. However, despite being so weird this game is highly addictive. It's game play is strange but addictive and thsi is the formula which makes the game so good. If you did not want to make you mates think that you are sad, you might have said that the gameplay on this game is very poor and for SADDOS' only. This is however not true and I for one can not knosk this games ability to hook you in and keep you playing. However, the mark on this game will have to be a bit conservative as it is either a game that you are hooked to or hate and will never play again. E-WOK'S RATINGS Graphics: OK Gameplay: Strange Addictiveness: The sky is the limit! Disappointment: N/A 78% |
